This was a cheap publicity stunt for two white (yes I know Geraldo is from PR) men with larger egos than the state of Texas and whose ratings are in a free fall – a direct correlation with Bush’s approval rating. In this case, Geraldo was right.
They were discussing the Alfredo Ramos case – an immigrant from Mexico charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence after his car crashed into another car killing two teen-aged girls. O’Reilly should be ashamed for turning this tragedy into a political issue.
”He doesn’t have a right to be in this country,” O’Reilly said. He said he wanted immigration laws enforced while Rivera favored ”open-border anarchy.”
O’Reilly forgets that his ancestors were once immigrants wanting to move to a country with opportunities for a better future. Instead of discussing immigration, they should have discussed ways to deal with drinking and driving.
O’Reilly and other anti-immigration pundits are creating unfavorable conditions for the world’s smartest people to come to the States to live and work. This brain drain will hurt every sector in the U.S. – engineering, research, education – our universities will be crippled if this continues to occur.
Let’s deport O’Reilly instead.
