Biking in DC just became easier with SmartBikes

15 08 2008

Leave your walking shoes at home and instead pack your biking helmet. For only $40 a year, you can now bike around DC on a SmartBike. The bike stands are located throughout DC (Logan Circle, Dupont, Shaw, Foggy Bottom, Downtown, etc.) and will undoubtedly expand as more people discover the service.

Renting bikes is very popular in Europe. Tourists can bike down the Champs-Elysees in record time or students can sleep in and still make it to class on time. Hopefully this will provide an alternative for tourists in DC, finally putting an end to the segway tours and help people take off a few inches in the process.

Mr. Yogato brings fun and great tasting frozen yogurt to DC

29 07 2008

My first experience at Mr. Yogato involved naming 11 Nicholas Cage movies to receive a discount on my first of many cups of frozen yogurt. This time I chose the original soft with blueberries – delicious. Located at 1515 17th Street between P & Q streets, this small yogurt fun house offers 18 flavors (4 at one time) and more than 40 toppings. Mr. Yogato is a welcome addition to DC – the experience is refreshing and it’s nothing like you’ve ever tasted!

Rules of Yogato

  1. If Mr. Roboto comes over the speaker system and you sing along,
    you get 10% off yogurt.
  2. Try your luck with a trivia question. Get it right for 10% off, but get it wrong and 10% is added.
  3. If you will wear a yogato stamp on your head, you get 20% off.
  4. If you can recite the Stirling battlefield speech from Braveheart in a great scottish accent, you get 10% off yogurt.
  5. Order a yogurt for 30 consecutive days and we’ll name a flavor after you.
  6. If a customer suggests a topping or flavor which is then adopted, that customer receives a 5% discount for life.
  7. If anyone can stump Steve on trivia regarding Seinfeld or “The Rock,” 10% off yogurt.
  8. Anyone wearing a kickball uniform and has played hard (evidenced by dirt on their knees) will receive an automatic 10% off yogurt.
